The Northmont Kids Wrestling team hosted an eight-team tournament last Sunday at the high school.
Teams such as Vandalia-Butler, Wilmington, Wayne, Meadowdale, Tri-County, Bellbrook, and Greenville competed in a tournament consisting of 250 wrestlers.
Northmont placed third out of the eight teams.
Wrestlers of the week are Chris Wolf, Andrew Michels, and Jason Coleman. Chris Wolf completed the day with two pins and a regular decision to capture first place. Andrew Michels looked aggressive as he pinned in 12 seconds to place first in the tourney.
First-year wrestler Jason Coleman wrestled tough at home, ending the day with two pins to become tournament champion.
Northmont's home tournament included some tough competition from all eight teams from throughout the league. There were many bright spots for Team 96 as they wrestled very tough all day long. Skyler Pinkerton had two victories, including a pin in 20 seconds to place second. Colin Huelsman looked aggressive as he Pinned two opponents and decisioned another to become tournament champion. Chris Henderson defeated two of his opponents to receive a second place finish.
Mike Bittorf suffered a tough loss his first match, but regained his composure to win with two pins to place second.
Cory Greenberg had a pin 2:58 and a regular decision to place second. Josh Springer dominated his opponents 12-0 and 9-2:to finish second. Justin Sendelbach captured first place by pinning all three opponents. Brandon Phillips dominated all his opponents, including a 19 second pin to take first place. Sean Dahling looked very dominating as he pinned all three of his opponents to become tournament champion.
Again, Team 96 looked aggressive and dominating as they wrestled as a team. The following wrestlers also placed:
