Top to bottom:

Utility Programs-These are programs that Microsoft puts on the screen for you. You can safely delete all icons except "My Computer", "Inbox" and "Recycle Bin" by holding down the left mouse key and dragging the icon to the "Recycle Bin" or you can leave them there for future use.
Green blank screen-The remainder of the screen will be blank except for icons that programs that you frequently use and want to put on the screen.
Start-This is the button that you point to with your mouse and "single left click".

Programs: Contains a listing of all
programs.
Documents: Contains a listing of
the last things you worked on.
Settings: Controls how your desk
top looks, and how your computer
acts.
Find: Enables you to type key
words to find files you might have
lost.
Help: This is the first place you
go to resolve a problem.
Run: Used to load programs.
Shut Down: You must always run
this program before you turn off
your computer.
Start: You "Left Click" to get the
above menu.

Highlight "Programs" with your mouse pointer and move the pointer to the right.

You will see a listing of all of the programs that you have.

Move mouse pointer to the program that you want to run and "double click" with the lift mouse button.

The program that you want to run will begin running.
