Lab Practice

Important:

    1. If you need help, flag down an instructor.
    2. Do not lift anything heavy. Get help.

Check List:

    1. Disconnect cables from box.
    2. Take cover off of the box.
    3. Identify the floppy disk, the hard disk, and the SIMM sockets.
    4. Disconnect cables from either the floppy, or hard drive.
    5. Disconnect the cables from the mother board.
    6. Insert a SIMM.
    7. Call an instructor to verify if the SIMM is properly inserted.
    8. Remove the SIMM.
    9. Identify the pin number one on the cable/cables.
    10. Reconnect the cables to the mother board and the disk drive.
    11. Insert an add-on card.
    12. Call an instructor to verify that it is installed properly.
    13. Remove the add-on card.
    14. Replace the box cover.
    15. Call an instructor to get a monitor, printer and mouse and keyboard.
    16. Connect cables to the monitor, printer and mouse.
    17. Disconnect cables from the monitor, printer and mouse.

Questions:

    1. Did you have a serial mouse, or port PS/2 mouse?
    2. Did you have a ¼ inch keyboard port or ½ inch port?
    3. What kind of add-on card did you have?
