Englewood resident Steven Winteregg has written a piece that will soon be performed by the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra in a world premier.
Winteregg plays tuba in the Principal chair for the orchestra.
His work, titled "Breathless," will be featured in the upcoming concert Sept. 17 and 18 at 8 p.m. in Memorial Hall.
Winteregg described the piece as being "like a roller-coaster ride between motion and beauty."
He began work on the composition in February, and as he said, "I put the final period in place on July 4th."
Winteregg is an alumnus of Wright State University and is currently an Associate Professor of Music at Wittenberg University.
He has won numerous national awards in composition competitions, including his ninth annual prize in composition from ASCAP.
The evening of the opening night of the Philharmonic's premiere of Wintereggs "Breathless" will be 'Collegiate Night' and will feature festivities prior to the performance.
