Memorial Day

The communities of Clayton, Englewood, Phillipsburg, and Union, in conjunction with Northmont City Schools and American Legion Post 707 Englewood and VFW 7741 Clayton will participate in a combined ceremony.
The event will be held at Northmont Stadium adjacent to the high school and middle school on Saturday, May 23 at 10 a.m. regardless of weather conditions.
The program will feature color guards from the major branches of the military. Wright Patterson Air Force Base Honor Guard will attend, as well as an element from the 88th Security Forces Squadron stationed at Wright Patterson.
Them will be a dedication of the Veterans Memorial during the ceremony in which all the active duty color guard units will participate.
In addition, honor guard and color guard units representing various veterans' organizations from throughout southwestern Ohio will participate.
Northmont High School band will perform military marching songs and other military service songs. The high school Encore Choir will sing other patriotic songs.
A presentation of wreaths by the mayors of the four communtties will be executed in honor of the community and of the servicemen who made the supreme sacrifice to our country.
Included will be a fly over from a unit of the Ohio Air National Guard, as long as there is no operational interference or weather complications. The program will be a tribute to honor our dead.
It will provide a time to reminisce and demonstrate the Patriotic support which is very much a part of us all.
Also included in the ceremony will be a posting of the colors. presenting of wreaths at the memorial, a 21-gun salute and answering taps.
