HOPE THIS HELPS~~~~~~PLEASE READ!!!! PLEASE READ!!!!!! PLEASE READ!!!!!!HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE!!!!! TO FIND ENGLISH SUMMARIES OF DESTIONS EPISODES----go to "ASK JEEVES" Enter one of the sites with the same title "ASK JEEVES"----Type in ENGLISH SUMMARIES OF DESTINOS----Click on the word "ASK"----#1 will be Destinos Discussion Group Comments; #2 will be Destinos episodes 1-9 summaries in English; #3 will be episodes 10-18 summaries in English. To get episodes 33-40 summaries, I went to CompuServe.com (for those of you who have a CompuServe account)and typed in the same info English summaries of Destinos. Hope this helps someone. After days of headaches and confusion about this soap opera, I gladly share my findings with anyone who may be assisted by obtaining this info. If anyone finds the "missing" episodes, PLEASE HELP ME OUT-return the favor. If you cannot access CompuServe and are in need of episodes 33-40, please e-mail me.

I am taking the destinos course. I'm in Spanish 3 (highschool) my teacher is teaching us the Grammar of Spanish, not how to speak it. The class that I am in, we understand general sentences, but we are lost when it comes to hearing them in conversations. We are finishing lesson 17 tomarrow. We have to translate the big paragraph on the backside of the worksheet, without a dictionary. This is really hard. The summaries I have read don't give me the help I need. I'm so frustrated. It's crazy...and don't you LOVE that little pipe horn whistly noise that happens whenever they show something mysterious or a flashback like with Angel? HAHAHA this is so hilarious! I can't believe it's so widely used!

Arturo sucks!!

I'm so jealous of raquel- I'm in love with arturo. When I saw them first kissing I started to cry. Everytime I see them together I have fits of rage. I wrote to Arturo a month ago, with a proposal of marriage, and he still hasn't written back. I've become depressed because my teacher stopped showing us episodes. Does anyone know how I can get Arturo's address? I know he lives in Argentina- but WHERE???

Classic Cheesy Destinos Moments:
1) Raquel almost hits the truck. Watch the way she steers...cracks me up every time!!!
2) At the excavation site, there is a rescuer walking down a 10 degree slope and hanging onto a rope for dear life.
3) That scene at the site where those people are running in front of that white light coming through a doorway. It looks like they're at a disco party or something... absolutely hysterical!
4) The way Luis laughs.
5) Stupid pipe music for the Angel flashbacks.
6) patatas patatas patatas patatas patatas
7) The other old karyoke guy, whatever his name is.
8) Osito! Jaime! Osito! Jaime! Loooook at that fat kid run...
9) The first time Raquel and Angela meet each other at the cemetary...
10) anything with crazy ol Don Fernando--> "Rosario...Rosario..."

To the person that wants to know why Destinos is repetitive. Here is my point of view.
The way we learn to speak our languages is by repetition. Since we are born, we hear the language our parents speak and it is not until 6 to 8 months that we are able to imitate the basic ma sounds or da, or pa, or ba etc. Thus, the need for Destinos to emulate the learning process

I just have one question. Why is Destinos so repetitive? I could understand if they only went over something once, or twice...but they go over things many times in one episode and then will review the same things they just went over in the following episode.

I have been checking the posting page recently and was dismayed to find the torrid love notes being passed relating to Raquel, Luis, and even Guillermo. If the students making such accusations would please halt their behaviour and begin taking the world of Destinos seriously, this website will once again serve it's educational purpose and not soley reside for something to do on Friday nights. Thank You.

Osito means little bear.
This page is for discussing with other high school and college students the plot of Destinos. In addition, it is for practicing Spanish, learning about the culture through the Destinos lessons and getting help for the grammatical concpts.
DEFINITELY! IT IS NOT FOR DISCUSSING YOUR PERSONAL LOVE LIFE.

Okay, I know that I wrote a post earlier about my deep desires for Raquel and I received some helpful advice. Now I have another problem-I have a secret thing for Guillermo. If you don't remember who Guillermo is, he was the one who helps Pati with the plays in New York. I know that he is also a co-producer of Destinos. His lisp and his inability to speak Spanish like a native Spaniard really really gets to me. Oh Guillermo, I really am in love with you and I would be lying to myself if I said that i had feelings for Raquel. I am going to change my email address now to "luvuGuillermo" Please let me know if you have any helpful hints to either getting Guillermo or getting over this stud of a man. Thank you all and the best of luck with your current love affairs.

I just found this page. I currently teach Spanish in a private school. My classes run from K to 8th grade. I have caught a few episodes of Destinos on TV. I just love it and wish I could see the entire thing from start to end. It is very well made. Here our local education channel is where it is shown, but there is no set schedule.

Hey everyone! I wished that I shared in the enjoyment of Destinos; however, I transferred from a University that didn't use the "Destinos" programs to teach us Spanish. Now, I am placed in a higher level Spanish class and expected to know what has happened. Unfortunately, I can't find a web site with any descriptions of the earlier episodes. If someone could please help, I just might keep my A in the class. Thanks!

Hola,
We are using the text Destinos and I need all the assistance I can get from you. I tried to type the entire letter en espnaol pero a no avail. I'm not that good and this is my first semester of 2 since high school graduating in 1982. I can read well. I know the vowels. I guess i need help in remebering the vocabulary. We are in Ch. 3 and about to have an exam Monday and my professor thinks that all should have grasped everything in the three chapters. Is there any assistance I can ghet from you for the following chapters as well as my second semester?

Some people have been asking me the names of the other countries who speak Spanish besides Mexico and Spain, well here they are:
In Europe, Spain and its Canary Islands.
In Latin America, Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Guatemala,
El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela,
Ecuador, Bolivia, Perú, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay,
In Africa, Guinea Equatorial
Unofficially, the Hispanic population in the USA about 26 million.
Unofficially, the Philippines because they were under colonization from
Spain for more than 300 years. Most last names are of Hispanic origin.
I hope this helps you

For all those who want me to tell you how the series end,
it is for you to find out. Actually, that is the greatest
objective...to keep you interested.
For those of you who dislike the romantic aspect of Raquel and
Arturo... you have the right to your opinion. Yet, that is
another one of the wonderful objectives this program has...
to keep you engaged.
For Dawn Rigdon. The use of the past tense has a dual role.
It gives you the preterite where you have a specific event with
a beginning and an end, while the imperfect gives you the
setting for the preterite. The imperfect gives you the
equivalent to the expression "when I used to be...". The best
way to understand it is by reading good literature. Pick up
a children's book from your public library, and you will be able to
understand how to use it.
Regarding the Subjunctive... it is difficult. But it is used when
you have wishful thinking on what another person should do
for you, or an event to take place. It is very important that
you learn the conjugations in contrast with the Indicative and
the Imperative. Only when you know the three moods or modes,
you will be able to distinguish them. The more literature
you read the better you will be able to see the use of the
subjunctive.
Good luck on you test! I am sure your teacher will be able to
give you the rules for applying the correct use, especially
contrasted.

Contact your local Public Broadcasting Station and ask for
time and date when the Destinos program is shown. Althought
the episodes may be more advance than your level, you will
be able to apply the Destinos principle on watching and listening to
another language.
You are lucky, Chicago has many more Spanish media than we do here in
Dayton. Watch television programs in Spanish, listen to Spanish radio
radio stations and use your local public library.
Get video and audio tapes on your favorite stars and also
get some magazines in Spanish. Again, you do not have to
know every one of the words you read or listen in the media,
but just get you ear used to the tone and sounds of the langauge.

2. ¿Dónde vive esa persona?
3. ¿Desea hablar con Raquel?
4. ¿Cómo debe ir Raquel a Madrid?
(Enjoy it)

This week we should be watching Episodio 3: El Comienzo;
let's focus on the differences in the Spanish accent of
Raquel versus the Taxi Driver. Are you able to understand
him? What about the pride in his role as one of the
brothers in his Church of Santa Ana's Cofradia? Does it
bring local images of anything going on in the USA?
Regarding Episodio 4: Perdido, I love to see the different
architecture of Sevilla. Any comments?

A couple of the learners want to have access to the audio-
tapes. They are located in the Laboratory at Sinclair.
Also, there are at least three Manuals Audioscript to
Accompany Destinos. The Laboratory hours are posted by
the second week into the quarter. I will post them in this
page next Monday.
This is our first week and we should have seen the first two
episodios de Destinos. La Carta y El Secreto. Please notice
the culture differences. Let's talk about them!
May you have a warm weekend! (¡Espero que tengan un fin de
semana sin mucho frío!)

Hola,
My office hours are from 8:00 to 8:30 p.m. Monday through
Friday, and from 10:00 to 10:30 Saturday morning.
We should be discussing Lecciones 1 y 2 this week.
Please comment on anything that made you pay special
attention. What type of weather do you think they have in
that part of Mexico? What about the temperature in the home?

Welcome to Destinos! Bienvendios a Destinos!
I am very happy we are finally doing Destinos exclusively
to learn Spanish. It is great that you have the tapes at
home versus watching them on the Public Television Stations.
I am looking forward to meeting each one of you via this
instrument. We will try to use as much Spanish as we
possibly can. Hasta la vista, amigos!
