Lau Industries, a manufacturer of air-moving components, will soon be Englewood's newest member of the industrial business community. A proposed 196,500-square-foot plant will be built at the intersection of Hoke Road and Interstate 70 and will serve as the anchor for this area industrial park.
Englewood was selected as the home for this facility after a lengthy site-selection process. "After carefully weighing each opportunity, we decided on- the Englewood location for three key reasons," said Michael Quinn, vice president of operations for Lau Industries. "First it would allow us the opportunity to retain our experienced work force. This will keep jobs in the community and minimize our downtime during the relocation.
"Secondly, the Englewood site provided a total package of economics, prime location and access to the facility. The third
factor that helped make our decision is the positive attitude and assistance we have received from the city of Englewood, specifically Eric Smith, city manager, and Jeff Bothwell, director of community development.
Presently located in Dayton, Lau Industries is widely recognized throughout the world as a manufacturing leader in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration industries. Led by president Will Jones, Lau specializes in both residential and commercial air-moving components.
Northmont Schools will immediately benefit by the income tax revenues of $120,000 per year, and Lau's development will generate $65,000 annually for Englewood.
This new Englewood manufacturing site will be in addition to the company's present Dayton facility.
