Estas Posadas fueron originalmente diseñadas para la comprensión de la Navidad y su representación. Se usó esta actuación como la mejor manera para educar al pueblo, ya que en su mayoría era analfabeta. Además, antes de 1960, todas las oraciones de la iglesia Católica eran en latín.

La festividad consiste en organizar en nueve diferentes casas, una posada para cada noche. La familia que es responsable de cada posada, hace el papel de los hosteleros y es en su casa donde se llevarán a cabo las oraciones para ese día.

Generalmente, los hosteleros cantan desde adentro de la casa y los peregrinos desde afuera. Todos llevan velas en farolitos y las luces de bengala. Después de cantar los versos, aceptan a los peregrinos y los dejan entrar en casa.

Una vez dentro, enfrente del Nacimiento, comienzan las oraciones, de rodillas cuando oramos y de pie cuando cantamos. Después del rosario, todos salimos al patio o al frente de la casa en la calle y rompemos la piñata que los anfitriones compararon para los niños.

La piñata siempre tiene frutas de la estación, como naranjas, mandarinas, caña de azúcar, además cacahuates - maní. Los adultos y los niños beben ponche caliente de frutas, ya que en las noches hace frío en Diciembre. Por supuesto, es una buen pretexto para que los adultos le añadan el "piquete" (ron, mezcal, jerez, tequila, etc.) al ponche.

The posadas festivities consits in organize in nine different homes a "posada" for each night. The responsible family for each night, plays the roll of the Inkeeppers. They are hosting the prayer or "novena" (nine days paryers) it will be in their home.

Generally, the inkkepers sing from inside the home and the pilgrims sing from outside. Everybody has candles inside of paper lanters and spakles. After singing the verses, the pilgrims are led inside to pray.

Once inside, in front of the Nativity scene, they start to pray on their knees and standing while they sing. After the Rosary, we all go outside to the patio or in the street in front of the hosting home to break the "Piñata", bought by the hosts for the children.

The "Piñata" is always filled up with seasonal fruts, such as oranges, tangerines, sugar canes, besides peanuts. The adults and the children drink a hot puch made out of fruits (such as apple cider), for the evenings in December are always a little chilly. Of course, the cool weather is a good excuse for the adults to add a "sting" (ron, mezcal, cherry, tquila, etc.) to the punch.
